Candy canes are a beloved holiday treat, and now you can make them yourself with this easy recipe. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create delicious and festive candy canes that are perfect for gifts or stocking stuffers.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red and white food coloring

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened and reached the hard-crack stage (300 degrees F on a candy thermometer).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the peppermint extract.
  5. Divide the mixture in half and add red food coloring to one half and white food coloring to the other half.
  6. Transfer each mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe the candy canes onto the prepared baking sheet, starting from the center and working your way out.
  8. Allow the candy canes to cool completely before enjoying.
